A shallow shade often leaves the bulb below its edge, directly in a seated person's eyeline. Fit a weaker bulb and the glare drops, but the table becomes dim. Small pendants commonly have this problem with shade depth.

Cascade's short drum shape measures 15 cm in width and 10 cm in depth, enclosing a standard E27 bulb completely. Instead of clear glass, its opal walls allow illumination to pass through and spread into a softly bordered pool. That avoids a sharply lit ring surrounding a concentrated bright centre on the table.

Turn the lamp off and wait for the bulb to cool before handling the shade. Use dry microfibre to remove exterior dust, or a cloth with very little moisture for fingerprints; dry immediately afterwards. Avoid spray cleaners and running water, since liquid entering the holder can damage it. Clean the painted upper section by wiping gently, not scrubbing, and never use abrasive cleaning cream.

The same silhouette comes in twenty-one colourways. A beige cap and milk-white glass make Opal the subdued option. For contrasting tones, choose Khaki & Cream or Dark Green & Wine Red: each pairs a painted cap with glass coloured throughout. Orange and other single-tone options carry colour through the glass, appearing rich and muted when unlit, then glowing amber with the bulb on. Along a row, mix finishes while retaining a consistent shape.

Easy to hang

A hook and bulb, without an electrician

The standard ceiling rose arrives with its cord threaded through. Adjust the hanging length there, then replace an existing pendant at the same ceiling point. The lamp is sufficiently light for plasterboard ceilings.

The glass is the good bit

It has that slightly uneven thickness near the rim that real hand-finished glass has, so the light isn't perfectly even and I like that. The bulb came already fitted, which I wasn't expecting — was lit within a minute of unboxing it.

Its compact shade spans about an outstretched hand. One light suits a bedside position or small round table. For a long dining surface or kitchen island, use two or three, leaving equal space between them.

What height should I use?

Aim for a position approximately three-quarters down towards the table surface. With the bulb enclosed completely by the shade, the filament stays hidden even at that height. Above a counter used standing up, raise it slightly to keep it clear of people's heads.

Can I adjust the cord?

Yes — adjust the braided cable at its ceiling rose for a brief drop or extend it to 1.9 m. Tuck spare length within the rose without cutting. That lets you lengthen it again after relocating or changing the table underneath.

Must I hire an electrician?

For an existing powered ceiling point, replacing one pendant with another is a direct swap that most people do themselves after isolating electricity at the consumer unit. A new point requires a qualified electrician. The lamp's low weight means reinforced mounting is not needed.

What colour suits my interior?

Each colourway operates identically; the difference is its appearance within the room. Pale finishes sit quietly within lighter interiors and give a softer impression. Darker shades and combinations of two tones provide contrast, making the pendant more noticeable as a design detail. In a group, select the same finish for consistency or combine colours for a layered arrangement.
